Sigma Draconis
The Alsafi System
And the
primary world of Hyannis
presented by
the Exploration Society's Institute of Planetological Natural History

Salem is the closest world to Sigma
Draconis, and is classified as a Janian Subtype. An ice-cap is
located on the far side of the planet, lost to perpetual darkness.

Barnstable is a Hyperionic Type world, a
super-terrestrial with a hot and dry surface, its atmosphere
thick and toxic. The presence of sulphur dioxide gives it a yellowish
cast. Behind it, its two moons
of Marstons and Hyannis are visible.

Marstons is the inner moon of Barnstable,
and is a Selenian Subtype, a world with no current geo-
logical activity, its surface barren and heavily cratered.

Hyannis is the further moon of Barnstable,
and is classified as a PromethiContinental Subdivision
world. A young biosphere is slowly transforming the planet, with
photosynthesis in marine forms
still a relatively recent evolutionary innovation. As such, the continents
are barren, and are a dirty
brown in color. The continents are in the earliest stages of coming
together to form landmasses
which will mark the face of the world for billions of years to come.

From the surface, a conjunction between
Barnstable and Marstons can be a spectacular sight.

Berkshire is one of two gas giants in the
system, and is classified as a Saturnian Type. It sports a
major ring system, likely up kept by the constant erosion of many of the minor
moons in orbit.

Dukes is the second of two gas giants, and
is classified as a Neptunian Type. It possesses a fairly
thin ring system, quite likely the remains of a large impact on one of its minor
moons.

Franklin is a LithicGelidian Subtype world
in a solar orbit, with little about it that is remarkable or
interesting. Not being a member of a Jovian family, there has been little
external force to act on its
geology, leaving it a dull and icy world.

In contrast to Franklin, Bristol has been
heavily modified in the long gravitational dance with its
nearly equally-sized companion. The surface of this LithicGelidian Subtype
world is broken up with
ancient rifts and apparent ice or even liquid water flows, hinting at truly
traumatic events deep in this
world's past. Today, the world is without atmosphere and is completely
geologically quiescent.

Taunton is the near twin, in size, to
Bristol, but shows none of the extreme surface morphology that
the more massive planet does. It is heavily cratered, and there are
regions of surface deformation,
but there has been no geological events in its past which can compare with
Bristol.
