Omicron-2 Eridani A
The Keid (Saquanché) System
And the
primary world of Vulcanus (Kidian)
presented by
the Exploration Society's Institute of Planetological Natural History

The Kidian system at a glance; the living
world lays nestled between the two cratered and lifeless moons.

Kidian is a world of extremes. From
space, it appears as a lush and living world, and indeed much of its
surface is covered with thick forests and jungles, as seen here. But even
these lands are harsh and
nearly inhospitable to Human life. A world can look inviting, and remain
dangerous.

Even more inhospitable than the tropical
regions of the planet are the deserts of Kidian. Spreading
over the entire eastern half of the super continent, these lands are a study of
extremes. Years may
pass between any kind of rainfall, only to be followed by a year of torrential
tropical storms and thunder
cells, transforming the sands into torrents of muddy waters and newly-formed
canyon lands.

The smaller, inner moon of Torqual (not
seen here) is in an orbit which allows for a solar eclipse on
every orbit. It is an event which adds to the feeling of harshness natural
to Kidian.

Torqual itself is a small, cratered world,
marked with maria which fills in the major, ancient craters.

The outer moon of Kastiel, which plays a
major role in the native Lost Colony's mythology, is a heavily
cratered world, colored with geological deposits that may have been transformed
by material ejected by
the white dwarf component of the stellar system, over three billion years ago,
when it was passing through
its planetary nebula phase.

A departure view of Kidian, as it hangs
serenely in space. To the right are its two moons, while to the
left the distant B and C components of the system, a red and white dwarf, offer
cold illumination.
